A partnership for clinical training, research and service delivery
In a significant stride toward promoting community health and education, the Global Institute of Human Development (GIHD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Khidmat Raazi Hospital, Rawalpindi. This collaboration marks the beginning of a dynamic partnership dedicated to enhancing clinical training, public health research, and healthcare service delivery.
Shared vision for community welfare
Both GIHD and Al-Khidmat Raazi Hospital share a deep-rooted commitment to community welfare and sustainable development. This collaboration will harness their combined strengths to create impactful healthcare interventions and educational opportunities, especially for underserved communities.
Clinical training at Al-Khidmat Raazi Hospital
GIHD students and staff will benefit from practical and professional development opportunities at the hospital:
- Hands-on training for students — learners enrolled in GIHD's health-related programmes — including Lady Health Visitor (LHV), Community Midwifery (CMW) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) — will receive hands-on clinical training at Al-Khidmat Raazi Hospital, enhancing their practical skills in real healthcare settings.
- Capacity building for staff — GIHD's clinical and administrative staff will receive advanced training and practical exposure at Al-Khidmat Raazi Hospital, in addition to other training sites including the Specialist Care Hospital and the MCH Centre in Mandra.
Research capacity building at GIHD
The collaboration opens new avenues for strengthening research in public and community health:
- Capacity-building workshops — specialised training and workshops to enhance research skills among healthcare professionals, focusing on evidence-based approaches in primary care and community health.
- Joint research initiatives — collaborative research projects addressing pressing public health challenges, particularly in underserved and rural areas.
- Academic and professional development — a Certificate Course in Systematic Review of Health Interventions, the Diploma in Family Medicine with integrated mental health certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research, research fellowships, and BS, MSPH and PhD programmes in public health and allied disciplines.
These efforts will contribute to the development of a skilled health research workforce committed to improving health outcomes through innovation, education and evidence-based practice.
